Dr Spiridon Siouris is a Research Fellow in Aviation Fuel and Lubricant Thermal Stability with the Translational Energy Research Centre at The University of Sheffield. His expertise lies in the experimental investigations from low to high TRL levels for aviation gas turbines, and the development of low and high fidelity numerical simulation codes for investigation of fluid flow and heat transfer with or without chemical reactions.
Dr. Siouris completed his PhD at the University of Sheffield in numerical modelling and experimental investigation of aviation lubricant thermal degradation and deposition, including reaction rate optimisation. Since the completion of his PhD, Dr. Siouris has worked in several research projects dealing with aerospace fuel and lubricant degradation, aerospace elastomers, turbulence modelling, aerodynamic passive and active flow control, as well as plasma modelling.
As a Research Fellow, Dr. Siouris has conducted several research projects funded by industrial, national and international bodies such as Rolls Royce plc., Airbus, DuPont, Shell, EU FP7, Horizon 2020, CleanSky and InnovateUK. His current work at TERC and SAF-IC is on the development of deposition modelling capability in an industrial in-house CFD code, along with carrying out large scale fuel thermal degradation testing with a focus on Sustainable Aviation Fuels.
Dr. Siouris is a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA).
