As Technical Team Leader, Stuart is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the rigs, equipment and laboratories for the facility, as well as leading the technical team.
Stuart is involved in planning work schedules, managing and maintaining laboratories, maintaining and implementing safety standards and policy, providing specialist technical advice to a wide range of customers and supporting research and student projects. He also provides service to customers in technical design, build and operation of the unique research apparatus.
Stuart has 34 years of experience working for the University in various departments including Civil and Structural Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering and latterly the Diamond, where he managed a team of 12 teaching technicians across 7 laboratories to develop practical skills in our undergraduate students.
He has worked on collaborative research projects with Industrial Partners to design, manufacture and commission complex research apparatus. He has 15 years of experience in managing teams and is currently in the last year of an MBA.
